SDP has launched a new office in Kiunga to strengthen its presence in the North Fly District. The office will support local programs in education, health, and livelihoods under the Gutpela Community Strategy 2025–2030.
SDP officially opened its new office on April 5 in Kiunga, marking a strong step towards their commitment to the people of North Fly District. The opening signals SDP’s growing presence in the province, following existing operations in Balimo (Delta Fly) and Lake Murray (Middle Fly).
Present at the event were Western Province Governor Hon. Taboi Awi Yoto, North Fly Member Hon. James Donald who encouraged the community to support SDP’s efforts in the district.
In her address, SDP CEO Lesieli Taviri described the Kiunga office as more than just a physical space—it is a reflection of SDP’s intent to collaborate closely with North Fly’s leadership and stakeholders. “This is more than just an office; it’s a commitment to working with all of you to bring meaningful development to the people of North Fly,” Taviri said.
The new office was established through a Memorandum of Understanding with the North Fly District and is located within the District Administration building. It will serve as a base for program delivery as SDP expands its outreach to 16 LLGs across the province.
The Kiunga office is part of SDP’s broader Gutpela Community Strategy 2025–2030, which aims to anchor its presence in Western Province, complementing provincial and district government efforts.
Construction of SDP’s new headquarters in Daru is expected to begin in January 2026, further strengthening its operational base in Western Province.
